Rapid Relays Wireless IP Network Security Cameras. Read this before buying a new security system!

The biggest challenges that consumers face these days with DIY home security kits, is the labor it takes to run cables up to 200ft. Every home or business seems to be in the market for protection and with prices as low as $199 for 4 camera kits the sales are in the millions. As we all know the future demands for devices to be wireless is where Rapid Relays RF Technologies is on the cutting edge of surveillance.
The company now offers a full line of wireless security cameras to make any job a breeze and with a price that won't break the bank. Most people buying "low end" or cheap surveillance package deals base their decision on price. Sometimes doing a little research on the current surveillance technology would benefit the savvy shopper after taking some things into consideration. Most consumers want higher resolution cameras with a nice clear picture when the night vision is active. There are pros and cons to analog systems that use BNC connection and record to a Digital Video Recorder or "DVR". Analog cameras are no match for IP based security cameras simply because they are limited to analog signals as like with standard television and HDTV. IP cameras do not have these limits and even the cheap models offer around 3x the resolution of the powerful 700TVL analog camera. Since IP camera data moves over an ethernet cable it has the capability of 2 way audio, alarm control relays, and much more. The con is the fact that you have to be logged in the cameras software on a PC to record directly to the hard drive in order to store live video. Analog system technology is great because the DVR is able to store all data on a standalone DVR. Both IP and Analog systems are able to remote view from any mobile phone. The benefit of an IP camera is the fact that you can also stream real time audio and even talk back if its a 2 way camera. Analog systems simply can't provide this type of function. Rapid Relays is working on a standalone NVR which will interface with IP based cameras and will most likely be available later this year. For now, Wireless IP cameras seem to be the best choice in surveillance.

When can a Police Officer Enter a Home Without a Warrant?

Unreasonable Search
The fourth amendment to the Constitution protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures by law enforcement. The amendment requires search and arrest warrants be sanctioned by a judge and supported by probable cause.

Officers can search homes without warrants if the homeowner/renter willingly consents without coercion or deception.

An officer rightfully on someone's property can legally search if he is in view of contraband or visible evidence of a crime.

Officers already arresting someone in their home can search to prevent the destruction of evidence or for weapons or accomplices.

Officers can search in time-restricted situations where the process of obtaining a valid warrant could compromise public welfare or potential evidence.

The owner/renter of the property has the right to read the warrant or to have it read to them. They also have a right to request an explanation as to the reason for the search.

If you own one of our surveillance systems and catch law enforcement breaking the rules on video we would love to see it. We do not intend to get in the middle of your dispute, but we will surely make it public:)

Monitor Your Home over the Internet in a Few Easy Steps

Picture this: You are vacationing on a sunny isle after a hectic work week, and are all set to indulge in the complete rest and relaxation that you’ve been promised and pined for. Your favorite band plays on the radio, the paperback novel you’ve been dying to read in one hand, and a Pina colada in the other. This all takes place against the backdrop of a soothing blue sea, and yet, your thoughts keep drifting back home.

Questions keep nagging you as you try to relax, such as: “Have I locked all doors?” to “The back porch door has a loose handle…”, or “Did I unplug the Iron?” to “Did I switch on the main light to make it seem like someone’s home?” Then your brain switches to, “Is my brand new car is safe? Did I close the garage door properly? I was in such a rush when I left.”- You are trying to relax as that’s what your vacation is for, but these worries aren’t giving you have a moment’s peace.

Now with remote monitoring, you can put your mind at ease, and get rid of those nagging worries once and for all. With the advent of home security management systems, monitoring your home remotely has never been easier. Now you can keep an eye on your home through as many as five different 3g cameras, along with your set-up of a lighting schedule to make it seem like someone’s at home at the same time every day.

You can adjust your thermostat if there are temperature fluctuations, and check to see if all doors and windows are locked securely. What’s best, you can do this all from the comfort of your smartphone, tablet or PC.

The premise is simple. A system set-up connects security cameras, outdoor and indoor lights, thermostat controls and automatic door locks to a central communication system, and relays this information to your computer device over an internet connection. So in a nutshell, for a basic home surveillance set up, all you need are four different items:

1. Network cameras

2. Existing high speed internet connection

3. Existing Wi-Fi or Ethernet network

4. Smartphone, tablet, or notebook with a data plan

Steps for buying and setting up your new remote home surveillance

* Shop for a system that suits your needs. There is a wide variety of options to choose from. If there are budget constraints, you can start by purchasing just one camera which provides you with a fixed view of the area you’d like to monitor. In addition to the camera, make sure your starter kit includes installation software and a system controller. You can always expand this surveillance system later by adding extra cameras and sensors.

* Most professional companies provide you with a website to access your security system. Make sure you register with them.

* Install the software CD that came with the kit onto your PC. Your PC must have a working internet connection.

* Connect the system controller. A system controller works like a central processing unit, in other words, it is the brains of the operation. Simply plug it into a power source and connect with your home PC.

* Connect all the devices that were included in the kit, or that you purchased individually into the central system controller. That includes the 3g Ip camera, thermostats, lights and other appliances that you would like to control remotely. Please note, items purchased individually such as thermostats, lights and other appliances, need to be synced with the system controller via compatible sensors and smart plugs that relay commands and information to and from the system. Sensors and smart plugs can be purchased as part of a smart kit which also includes the appliance that needs to be regulated such as a thermostat. They can also be bought individually from large retailers such as Lowe’s or Circuit City.

* Make sure the cameras are positioned with an unobstructed view.

* Set up an internet live feed by using a set up wizard usually available on the company website.

* Test the resolution and quality by visiting the site where your video feed is hosted.

And voila…! You are all set to relax now and enjoy your vacation while your house is safe and secure.

Reasons Why you should have a Fire Extinguisher

Even though your home has installed a security system, a smoke detector or a fire alarm system, these are not helping when a big fire occurs. Therefore, it is important for every home to have at least one portable fire extinguisher in their home which is easily accessible. In my home, we have three, one in the kitchen, computer room, and garage. The reason for that is once you've been in a fire; you know that having just one isn't good enough. You must have heard this very often: Fire extinguisher is very helpful to prevent from losing valuables because of fire.

There are a few types of fire extinguishers out there on the market with different indication and treatment. Buying a fire extinguisher is not enough; you have to learn how to use it. Here are some tips for using your fire extinguisher rightly.

Get to know the four categories of the fire extinguishers first. Class A which is for ordinary use such as paper, wood, and most plastics; Class B which is for flammable or combustible liquids like gasoline, kerosene, grease and oil; Class C which is for electrical equipment like with your appliances, outlets, circuit breakers; Class D which is for chemicals - this is typically found in chemistry labs. Then read the instruction book carefully. Check the classification of fire that the fire extinguisher can handle. Remember different fire extinguishers tackle different kinds of fire.

Second, keep the fire extinguisher in a reachable and accessible place. Put a big sign there so that people can see a fire extinguisher is kept there. Usually, the main mistake people do in keeping fire extinguisher is that they keep it very carefully so people rarely see it and forget it when the fire happens. Only use a fire extinguisher if the fire is considered small. Never try and fight a big fire with a fire extinguisher or a fire that appears to be spreading quickly. In fact, you should know what is even burning in order to recognize which type of fire extinguisher to use; otherwise you are putting yourself in danger.

Third, refill the fire extinguisher after using it. You do not want get caught in fire with an empty fire extinguisher, do you? Fire extinguisher needs treatment also. So be sure to put it for a regular treatment. Keep a safe distance when fire happens. Do not stand too close when you try to aim the fire. It will be dangerous for you. If you have a lot of smoke building up, get out quickly because carbon monoxide is the most deadly gas that is produced by a fire.

Remember the above tips that can protect you safely from a fire, and also teach your other family members to use the fire extinguisher, only that makes your family suffer the least in the fire.

School Safety & Security, What comes next?

News could be often heard in America schools that student fighting, murdered, gun shooting and so on. Nowadays, school security is perhaps the most emotive issues facing head teachers, school staff, parents and governors; no one wants to hear about a headline heading crimes happened in school.  Security problems can arise in all kinds of circumstances – outsiders coming into schools, violent actions by children, parents or staff, burglary, theft, arson to name but a few. Moreover, violence among pupils is said to be rising. Therefore, it is time for doing some measures to prevent something bad really happened.

Children have the right to a safe place in which to be educated. Staff has the right to a safe place in which to work.  Here are something advised for school security is listing below:

   * School property boundaries well-defined to ensure safe outdoor school games

   * Security monitors, both mechanical such as security cameras and people such as guards

   * ID cards and monitors for school visitors

   * Fixed lock entry doorways

   * School lighting, such as wall mounted fixtures with vandal-resistant lens covers

   * Switching out solid doors for glazed doors.

   * Alarm system

   * Programs that teach children attending the school safety facts and procedures such as school workshop safety rules

   * Safe online games to play at school for students

Since there is a large amount of students and staff in school, it is impossible to keep an eye on every person, so a complete school security system must be applied to school safety project. As for a large area, a 16 channel is needed. Make sure that every entrance, every playground and other places where need to be monitored for in case that some crimes may occur there. Moreover, for some places hidden devices can be used, do not let everyone knows there is a hidden soy camera there.  Once some crimes happen, you can know it immediately and do some prevention. For outsider attacks, the systems could record a video for later use as evidence which helps to catch the criminals quickly.

School security is a kind of public security, government and school itself should do everything to protect the safety of students and staff.

The uses of online surveillance cameras in residencies are becoming more and more popular with each passing year. It is no mystery that home security is uncertain more these days than during previous years due to the tough economic times. Not only do homeowners want to protect their valuables and assets, but they also want to offer protection to their families. Some homeowners have turned to this type of home security rather than purchasing firearms, while others have used each form of security in conjunction with each other.

What are the benefits of using online surveillance cameras?

There are a number of benefits to using a surveillance camera on the exterior of the home. For some homeowners, they want to see who is coming to their door without the visitor seeing them. This is also useful for those who are trying to secretly see if their spouse is having an affair and, with the camera, they can easily see and record who is coming and going while they are away.

Another benefit is keeping tabs on a babysitter parents are unsure of, as well as others entering their home like house cleaning services and maintenance people. Under some circumstances, homeowners have a lot of people coming and going from their home while they are away; therefore they want to know what is happening during these times. There are a number of ways to monitor these people without them knowing, including hiding cameras in stuffed animals, in clocks, and in appliances. The camera will tell homeowners what is going on while they're away, and tell parents if their child is being properly cared for.

Other benefits include checking in on kids that are old enough to be alone while parents are at work or out of the home for any other reason. It isn't uncommon for children to come home to an empty house after school because their parents have to work. So, using a few cameras sprinkled throughout the house and the property helps parents keep an eye on the kids while they are away. For those who keep surveillance cameras outside, it helps these parents see who is coming and going when they aren't home.

Can you tell if you're being watched?

The technological advancements of today allow online surveillance cameras to be wireless and self-contained. That way, they are completely free from any sort of cable systems or wires. This technology allows the camera to be hidden just about anywhere; therefore it's possible you could be being watched without really being sure. These internet surveillance cameras are hooked up directly to the user's computer, so the video feed can be watched from any location.

Where can online surveillance cameras be purchased?

Consumers can find online surveillance cameras at a number of retail locations, but they're easier to find through Internet retailers. It's best to shop around in order to ensure the correct model is purchased for the best possible price. If you feel like you are the one being watched by an online surveillance camera, you can also perform this same research to see what kinds of cameras to look for in your personal and business surroundings.

Fingerprint Doorlocks Opened by Rapid Relays Wireless

The basic of a fingerprint door lock system is that home security is ensured because the lock owner's fingerprint is needed in order for the door to unlock. In order for the user to enter their home, the sensor within the lock scans their fingerprint and makes attempts to verify and confirm the user's identity. The sensor is advanced enough to recognize basic fingerprint patterns including the loop, whorl, and arch.

How is this lock unique?

It is impossible for those that are not recognized by the fingerprint scanner to enter into the user's home. This makes a fingerprint scanner lock a secure feature because every person has fingerprints that are unique to them. Because of this uniqueness, the user must be present in order to allow others to gain access to the home. Unlike password locks on doors, this type of lock is not easily hacked. Unlike other biometric locks like facial and eye locks, the fingerprint lock has the highest biometric security feathers. That makes the fingerprint lock one of the most popular consumer choices for home security.

The convenience of a fingerprint lock:

Because this lock depends on the user's fingerprint, there is no longer the need to carry around house keys. As many have already experienced, it's simple to lose or misplace house keys. Therefore, if users typically lose their keys, the fingerprint lock is convenient for them. This kind of locking system is also convenient for those who have house sitters or other home employees who need to gain access to the home.

What is included with a fingerprint lock?

A keypad and a master key are available with every biometric fingerprint locking system. That way, if there are every any problems with the fingerprint scanner and the user's prints are not recognized, they have the alternative of using the keypad or master key in order to enter the home. Users should keep the master keys hidden in an area only known to them to prevent security breaches in the home. Another security measure is that the keypad will automatically lock if, after three times, the password is not keyed in correctly.

Is the fingerprint lock user-friendly?

Setting up the fingerprint lock is relatively simple and, to further simplify things, the locks include a manual. In addition to providing detailed information covering how to perform door installation, the manual also teaches users how to set up the lock to recognize fingerprints. Because users are more commonly right handed, the fingerprint lock is set up in this manner. The scanner verifies each user of the lock within seconds and its memory can store up to two hundred different fingerprints.
